So now comes the 3rd language after english and german: swiss german. What do I want to show you today? I want to show you two things which run parallel at the Swiss Post. What is the business case modum? There are two which you will see. But why do we work with modum? There are other logger producer. Why modum as a partner and what are we expecting with this collaboration? If you’d go out on the streets and ask people what they think of the Swiss Post Then they’d say something like this: Big, sluggish, state-driven, inflexible Like this freighter It’s nice to work here The aggravating thing, especially in the logistics sector, is that we need to go through a fundamental change. At the end of this presentation you’ll see a summary of everything we should be capable of by the end of 2023. Now how does such a giant freighter sail these rough seas? The strategy we are using since the last 2 to 3 years is to work with small agile businesses. A speedboat squad. Which show us the direction. And we are always doing this with a concrete business case. Modum is a prime example for that. On the one side we have abstract objectives which we will need to fulfill in the near future. And beneath that we got the concrete business case (modum) which has gone through some transformation. This I want to show you now. The abstract level: What do we know and what can we expect? And what are topics we will handle with modum. Sensors in the parcel. Nowadays Logistics providers are oriented to have as little scan-points as possible. Every scan-point means additional costs. You are lucky if your parcel gets scanned three times during transit. In track & trace you will maybe only have one. In one year we have rolled out a new product. Integrated a sensor and a predictive solution. And it still wasn’t good enough. What was the answer? It’s still a fresh decision which we decided in the last couple of months. We are not giving up. We are doing two things: Firstly, in the sensors we still believe. And it doesn’t matter if I offer a sensor for pharma or food products. As long as I can integrate it in the chain. We will start to offer sensors as a additional service. With the immediate-response. As soon as the parcel is scanned by the carrier the data is transferred in real-time from the sensor. That is a giant progress compared to systems nowadays, which first need to get configured with the computer. It’s really on time. And allows the consumer to react accordingly to still safe the product. Parallel to that we said new box and separate it from the thermodynamics. We want to take back the disadvantage from the customer which we created with the heavy isolated box and we decide in our center how we configure the packages. And now comes the predictive topic again! Not external but as an internal process optimization because we learned from modum’s pilot. This is the data from the pilot test. 80% of the time a simple isolation would be sufficient. Only 10% of the time the heavy isolation would be necessary. In todays system the consumer gets a package which is equipped for the worst case. This worst-case packaging makes the handling more difficult. Now I take it from him and at the same time make the predictive internal which he doesn’t see. The whole process from idea to conception and adaption of the product from an other point of view. These are the things which we need to master as a super freighter. With modum or other agile businesses. This is what I talked about in the beginning. These are the things we need to master until 2023 As a logistics company. All these things which help us now or in the future will be helpful. This is a short summary of what we are doing with modum or will be doing.
