Tonight I think we played a really good game under many aspects. From a tactical perspective and also as individuals we were efficient, both on and off the ball. Always trying to be aggressive towards Milan. We were moving the ball with a purpose and not just for the sake of it. Throughout the game we were constantly pressing Milan high on the pitch and I’m very happy with that. I’m pleased with our performance because we were up against a really good team like Milan. We are are talking about two of the best Italian clubs with a great tradition, Milan and Inter. Let’s not forget that this derby was an away match. So I feel positive about tonight’s performance, I’m happy for the lads, for our staff and for the whole club. But above all I’m happy for our supporters. This was my first derby, I was definitely under a lot of pressure and I wanted to have a good start. I think the team deserves a lot of credit because they did exactly what we had prepared during the week. And tonight they did it with great determination and motivation. But then again in order to win this type of games you have to show great tenacity and resolve and fight on the pitch until the referee blows the final whistle. I think that we played a great game and we were the better team despite facing a tough opponent like Milan. Tonight’s game demonstrates that to dare is to do. We need to boost our self-confidence. At times we underestimate ourselves and this should not happen. Losing a game it’s always a bad thing but losing a derby is even more disappointing than a defeat in an ordinary match. A derby is something unique, something special that you have to carefully prepare in every little detail, you have to think about everything. Personally I think that Inter started off very determined, they knew exactly how they were going to play this game, while it took a bit more time to my lads to focus and get in the right mindset. In my opinion the biggest difference between the two teams is that Inter have more experience than us. They have players that have played on an international level and know how to act in certain situations. But nevertheless my players were able to narrow the gap to an extent. We had a few problems at first but we improved our game after the first ten minutes of the match, from then on we were quite evenly matched. Then Inter scored with a free kick and I was quite disappointed by my team’s reaction. The way I see it is that we were playing well up until their first goal but then we started to lose our focus and we weren’t able to properly respond to the situation. The players started shifting out of position and that meant that we were vulnerable to Inter’s counter attacks.
